Cocktail Friday: Grey Goose Le Fizz

Cocktail Friday: Grey Goose Le Fizz

My perfect summer evening doesn’t require much. The company of my best friend (we have been married 13 years this August), our garden and a couple of cocktails. It really doesn’t take very much to make me happy! Never mind that the garden is actually a bit of a mess at the moment – we haven’t had a chance to do much with it since the builders left back in March. Or was it February? Despite the mess, there’s still flowering sweet peas and birds singing – in many ways you would never guess that we are in London and not the English countryside. You have probably guessed that staycations were invented with me in mind – I hate flying and am a homebody at heart.

The cocktail du jour is the elegant Le Fizz which combines two of my favourites – ice-cold Grey Goose and St Germain elderflower liqueur. It is refreshing, extremely drinkable and a bit of a kick in the head! Don’t let its good looks lull you into thinking this is a lightweight, girly kinda drink. Le Fizz is a Charlie McCarthy creation for the World Duty Free Summer Drinks Festival – check out the link for more summer cocktail inspiration.

Cocktail Friday: Grey Goose Le Fizz

Grey Goose Le Fizz
Serves 2
85ml | 3fl oz Grey Goose vodka (preferably chilled)
50ml | 2.7fl oz St Germain
2 tsp elderflower cordial (optional)
juice of 1 lime
chilled soda water to top up
lemon peel, rolled into a rosette to decorate (optional)

Method

1. Put the vodka, St Germain, elderflower cordial if using and lime juice in a cocktail shaker with plenty of fresh ice. Shake briefly and strain into two champagne coupe glasses or flutes.
2. Top up with chilled soda water and decorate with a lemon peel rosette.

PS: if you are after even more thrills, replace the soda water with chilled Prosecco. I can’t be held responsible if you do – this is strong enough already.
PPS: Although I am enjoying a Le Fizz right now I am certainly not in the garden seeing as we have been enjoying the downpour of a lifetime. I practically had to swim home.

Disclosure: World Duty Free Summer Drinks Festival supplied me with the cocktail ingredients.

These look great Lucy. I love the colouring, there's something very ethereal about the photos, they look so inviting.

I painted the wood background myself. Good old B&Q!

I love a Grey Goose Le Fizz, so refreshing and elegant looking, but I agree they go down easy but they certainly have an effect! Your photos are also beautiful, I love all the bright, summer colours x

Wow, looks awesome. I have an immediate need for one of these! A friend bought me a bottle of St Germain and I have been wondering what to do with it!
      Thanks
