Air Fryer Pork Ribs Tips & FAQs

USING A RACK OF RIBS? If you are using a rack of ribs, you will need to remove the thin membrane that covers the bony side. Slide the tip a knife blade under the membrane to loosen and pull it off – it should come off easily.

You will need to slice the rack of ribs into smaller sections in order to fit them in your air fryer. Don’t crowd the ribs in the basket, place them in a single layer, spaced slightly apart so that they can crisp up and cook evenly.

HOW TO TELL PORK RIBS ARE DONE

While the recommended internal temperature for pork is 62°C / 145°F, pork ribs need to be cooked until the temperature is over 90°C / 190°F for maximum tenderness.

HOW LONG DO RIBS TAKE TO COOK IN AN AIR FRYER?

This recipe takes about 30-35 minutes, using sliced ribs. Adjust the cooking time if you are using a whole rack. A digital thermometer is the best way to gauge whether the ribs are cooked safely.

YOU MAY NEED TO ADJUST THE TEMPERATURE Air fryers can vary by as much as 10 degrees between different models. If you notice your ribs are scorching at 200°C (400°F), turn down the heat by 5-10 degrees and cook for a little longer if needed.

REHEATING RIBS IN AN AIR FRYER

Preheat the air fryer to 180°C (360°F) and place the ribs in the basket in a single layer. Air fry for 5-7 minutes, brushing with some extra barbecue sauce if desired.

EXPERIMENT WITH THE SPICES & SAUCE

There are so many great dry rub and BBQ sauce options out there. I love using Korean barbecue sauce which is sweet rather than spicy. Generally any combo of sweet / salty / spicy will work well with ribs so you can tailor it to your taste.
