The Air Fryer is getting a bit of a workout this summer! It’s such a great way to cook when it is hot and humid and you can’t bear to even be near the oven.
Chicken wings in the Air Fryer are SO GOOD tho that I guarantee you will want to make them year-round.
Waaaay better than frozen wings and miles better than restaurant ones, they are also healthier too!
I have to admit I was never a big fan of chicken wings (so greasy!) but these air fryer wings are crispy and super delicious. And the best part? They are so easy to make!
Here’s what you will need
- Air Fryer – I love my large Cosori air fryer
- The seasoning: paprika, garlic powder, ground pepper or a seasoning mix such as Old Bay or Cajun.
- Secret ingredient: a little baking powder will make your wings extra crispy!
- Oil spray for the basket (I use a spray bottle to minimise the amount of oil)
HOW TO MAKE CHICKEN WINGS IN THE AIR FRYER
Cut each wing at the joint to make two pieces. Put in a bowl, add the seasoning and baking powder and toss well to coat them. Cover and put in the fridge for an hour or overnight or you can use them straight away.
Preheat the Air Fryer (mine has a preheat setting for 5 minutes). Mist the air fryer basket with a little oil and add the wings, making sure to space them out so they crisp up.
Cook for 20 minutes at 400F (205C) flipping halfway through. Check they are cooked with an instant read thermometer – they are ready when they temperature is 165°F (73°C). If they are not cooked through continue to cook for a further 5 minutes.
Check the seasoning and serve the wings as they are or with your fave dipping sauce, such as Ranch, Barbecue Sauce or Thai Chilli Sauce. I love using my Korean Fried Chicken Sauce!
NOTE: This recipe was made using a Cosori Air Fryer. If you’re using a different model you might need to adjust the cooking time slightly. The size of the chicken wings will also affect the cooking time.
Storing and reheating
Keep any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat them in the air fryer at 380F (180C) for about 5 minutes or until heated through.
