Gather round everybody because I have THE most sublime grown up treat for you! This creamy spiked vanilla milkshake will be adored by one and all and it is super easy to make.

Fancy making it your Easter “dessert”? While the kids are tucking into their Easter chocolate eggs, the adults can indulge in this indulgent milkshake.

HOMEMADE MILKSHAKE… WITH A TWIST!

My husband is not one for sweet things… but he is especially fond of the ultra rich, tall milkshakes you get at certain restaurants and American-style diners.

Luckily making those milkshakes at home is very easy – all you need is your favourite ice cream, milk, any optional flavourings like cookies (yum!) and a powerful blender.

And the twist? Add a generous splash of Amarula Vanilla Spice to turn this into a proper frosty drink that is perfect for enjoying slowly, one delicious sip at a time.

If you are not familiar with Amarula Vanilla Spice, it is a silky liqueur made with a blend of cream, vanilla and a hint of ginger laced with African marula fruit.

A FUN GROWN UP TREAT

Chill two large sundae glasses (or four tall glasses) in the fridge. Drizzle chocolate sauce on the inside of the glass.

Dip the glass rim into a shallow plate filled with chocolate syrup, then into a plate full of sprinkles. Keep chilled.

Put the Amarula Vanilla Spice, vanilla extract, softened vanilla ice cream and a handful of broken up cookies into a blender.

Blend until smooth – adding as much cold milk as you need to to aid in blending the milkshake.

Pour the milkshake into the prepared glass, leaving a small gap at the top – do not fill to the rim!

Pipe whipped cream (or cream from a can) over the top and decorate with more sprinkles and chocolate sauce.

Add paper straws and enjoy responsibly!

MILKSHAKE TIPS

  • It goes without saying that you can use whatever ice cream flavour you prefer. I prefer vanilla and salted caramel but chocolate, peanut butter and cookies and cream are all delicious in a milkshake.
  • Make this adult shake into a freakshake by adding extra toppings like donuts, marshmallows, candy, flavoured syrups etc.
  • Soft scoop ice cream makes blending your milkshake easier on your blender. Alternatively scoop the ice cream into a bowl and leave it to soften at room temperature before using.
