Is there anything the Air Fryer can’t do? I have been making roast beef, pork and now roast lamb in mine with absolutely amazing results!

There are tons of lamb recipes on this site, including a few for roast lamb. This Air Fryer lamb recipe is by far the quickest and easiest way to cook a smaller lamb joint.

Air frying ensures the lamb has a lovely crust outside while staying succulent, tender and moist within.

And since the Air Fryer is also more energy efficient than your oven, it is more economical too. You can even make some potato wedges to serve with your roast at the same time!

Grocery List

I have used Greek Roast Lamb (Arni ston fourno) as the inspiration for this recipe, so you only need a handful of ingredients.

The one thing to bear in mind is to pick a lamb joint that fits in the basket of your Air Fryer. I used a half leg joint but other cuts, such as butterflied leg or boneless shoulder are also suitable.

Other than the lamb you need salt, pepper, olive oil, garlic and herbs plus some potatoes if you want to kill two birds with one stone.

ESSENTIAL TOOLS

  • Meat thermometer (I swear by my Thermapen)
  • Cosori XXL Air Fryer
  • Carving set (this Victorinox one is so good!)
  • Butcher’s block cutting board

HOW TO ROAST LAMB IN AN AIR FRYER

Full measurements and instructions can be found on the printable recipe card at the bottom of the page. Please take a look at the steps and video before attempting this recipe!

Take the lamb out of the fridge for 30 minutes before cooking to allow it to come to room temperature. This will help it cook quickly and evenly.

Cut the potatoes into thick wedges and place in a bowl or small pyrex dish. Drizzle with olive oil and season with salt, pepper, oregano and garlic granules. Add a little lemon juice and toss to combine then transfer to the basket of your Air Fryer.

Place the lamb in the same dish and use a sharp knife to cut some slits onto the skin. Push small garlic clove slices into the skin. Sprinkle with the fresh rosemary and olive oil.

Season the lamb and place in the Air Fryer, nestling it among the potatoes. Make sure the lamb is not sticking up too much and fits well in the basket.

Cook for 10 minutes at 200°C (400°F) to develop a nice crust. Lower the heat to 180°C (360°F) and continue to cook for approximately 30-40 minutes or until the core meat temperature registers 145°F/ 63°C on a meat thermometer.

PLEASE NOTE: The cooking time will depend on the size of the lamb joint and the type of Air Fryer you use so a digital thermometer is the best way to ensure the lamb is cooked to your liking. I used my Cosori 5.8Qt Air Fryer for this recipe.

    Hi Lucy,
I cooked the top section of leg of lamb (The thickest part) in my ninja with potatoes and parsnips following your recipe, to some extent, although more English than Greek. I can honestly say I was pleasantly surprised at the result, which was fabulous. I did have to add 10 minutes to the cooking time, I fear because of the addition of the parsnips. I rested the meat for a good 10 minutes and the resulting juices went in my jus.
This also gave me time to finish my other vegetables, sprouts and cauliflower.
    A superb meal, thankyou.
