Prepare to fall head over heels with Air Fryer Focaccia Bread. Incredibly easy to make even for bread phobics as there’s no kneading required! Crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, this easy focaccia recipe is sure to become a favorite!

Focaccia is one of my favorite breads to bake and eat and I make it very often, sometimes multiple times a week. My son, finally a hungry teenager, can never have enough of it!
This focaccia recipe is a bit different though – we are going to bake it in the air fryer! Don’t look at me like I am crazy, I am absolutely thrilled with air fryer focaccia. It is has a super crisp crust and a fluffy interior and unlike the oven the air fryer is ready to bake in minutes.
This makes all the difference when it is hot and humid outside and the last thing you want is the oven to heat up your kitchen even further! I have been doing all of my bakes in the air fryer lately – well, I suppose you would expect that seeing as I wrote a book on the subject!

Focaccia Ingredients
You need just a handful of ingredients to make this easy focaccia recipe, but once you master the basic version you can customize it to your heart’s content!
- Bread flour – white strong bread flour
- Instant yeast – this type of yeast doesn’t require activation – you simply mix it with the flour prior to adding the water
- Sugar or a little honey
- Table salt plus salt flakes to sprinkle on top of the focaccia
- Water – I have been using filtered water lately thanks to my Lucy jug 🙂
- Good quality olive oil
- Softened butter to grease the baking pan

How to make Air Fryer Focaccia Bread
Prepare the dough
- Add the flour, yeast, sugar and salt into a mixing bowl and stir well to combine. Pour the water and 3 tablespoons of olive oil into the bowl and use a dough whisk to stir the ingredients until you have a sticky, shaggy dough.
- Cover the bowl with a shower cap (very useful in bread baking!) or a kitchen towel and leave to rise for an hour or until it has doubled in size. In the summer this can take as little as 45 minutes, but it can take much longer if your kitchen is cold.

Shape and second rise
- Grease an 8 inch (or 7 inch) square or round pan with softened butter. If you are unsure as to whether the pan is non-stick then you should also line it with baking paper.
- Deflate the dough and transfer to the prepared pan, gently stretching with oiled hands so that it covers the base of the pan. Cover and leave to rise for 45-60 minutes, or until the dough is puffy and bubbly.
- Drizzle the top of the dough with olive oil then use your fingertips to create deep dimples in the dough (so satisfying!). Sprinkle with flaked sea salt.

Bake in the Air Fryer
- Preheat your air fryer to 190°C (375°F). Place the focaccia into the air fryer basket and bake for 22 minutes, or until the top is deeply golden and crisp.
- Carefully lift the pan out of the air fryer and invert the focaccia so that you can crisp up the underside of the bread. Air fry for a further four minutes or until baked to your liking.

- Transfer to a wire rack to cool before slicing. By the way, don’t cover the focaccia while still warm – the steam will cause the crust to soften.

Serving suggestions
Focaccia bread is absolutely delicious served with my fave soup, salads or pasta dishes or as an appetizer with dips. I love to also make focaccia sandwiches and will happily eat a toasted slice with smashed avocado for breakfast!
Stale focaccia makes the BEST croutons too – slice into bite-sized cubes, mist with olive oil and air fry at 200°C (400°F) for 5-8 minutes, shaking the basket once or twice.

Recipe Notes & Tips
- Check your pan fits comfortably into the air fryer basket. You can use a foil pan (the disposable kind) or a brownie pan / cake pan.
- Store focaccia in a bread bag at room temperature for 3-4 days or slice and freeze it for up to three months.
- Air Fryer can be a bit temperamental and temperature varies between models. You can check on your bread 10 minutes before the end of baking time by gently opening the air fryer drawer. If it is browning too much, drop the temperature by 5 degrees.
- You can create endless variations of focaccia bread by adding herbs, flavored salt, garlic butter and so on. You can even make focaccia pizza (it is insanely delicious!).
- If you would rather bake this focaccia in the oven, preheat to 200°C (400°F) and bake for 25-28 minutes.

How to Store Focaccia Bread
Focaccia is best enjoyed fresh and it barely lasts a day in our house! If you have any leftover bread, wrap it in a linen towel and store at room temperature, for up to three days.
To freeze, cut into slices or portions, wrap in a layer of plastic wrap and foil and freeze for up to three months. Reheat in the air fryer or toast slices from frozen.

My family went ape sh*t for this bread omg, had to make it like 3 times in one week, had to write like 8 recipe cards tysm 🙂
A question – does the bread receptacle have to be round or square? I have ordinary rectangular bread tins – will these not suffice?
Kind regards
Glen C
It can be a round, square or rectangular pan but not a loaf one. This bread is meant to spread out and be flat (hope that makes sense!)
