Learn how to cook the perfect rib eye steak in your air fryer. You just need four ingredients and you could be slicing into a juicy and flavorful steak in less than 20 minutes!
Add butter to a small bowl, followed by the minced garlic, thyme (fresh herbs can make a big difference here) and salt and pepper. Mix until fully combined.
Wrap the garlic herb butter mixture in cling film and put in the freezer to chill. Roll flat and cut out small shapes to serve with the steak. You can keep any extra butter in the fridge for later use.
Prepare the steak
Take the rib eye steak(s) out of the fridge and let them come to room temperature. Pat the steaks dry using a paper towel.
1 thick-cut rib eye steak
Brush generously with olive oil on both sides and season with the salt and pepper.
1 tbsp olive oil, 1 tsp salt
Preheat your air fryer to 200°C (400°F) for 3-4 minutes. Place the steak in the air fryer basket and cook for 6-7 minutes, flip over and cook for another 6-7 minutes. Use a meat thermometer to check the steak is done to your liking, checking against the table in notes.
Rest the meat for 5 minutes to allow the juices to settle.
Serve and enjoy!
Serve the steak with a pat garlic butter, allowing it to melt and enhance the flavor. Serve with french fries or baked potatoes for the perfect side dish!

Steak Temperature Chart
I can give you approximate cooking times for your air fryer steak but these will vary depending on the thickness of your steak, whether you are cooking more than one at a time and the type of air fryer you have. Using a meat thermometer is the best way to gauge whether the steak is cooked safely and to your preferred level of doneness.
